Cooling that holds in July, heating that holds in January
Repairs, replacements and duct work for houses in Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and West Richland.
The hot months decide everything here
A system that is adequate in May can be five degrees short in July. Sometimes that is capacity, but more often it is a dirty condenser coil, a low charge, restricted airflow, or ducts running through an attic that is hotter than the outdoor air.
All four are measurable, and three of them are much cheaper to fix than a new system.
And then the other half of the year
Gas furnaces, electric furnaces and heat pumps are all common in the Tri-Cities. They fail differently and they should be set up differently.
- Gas furnacesIgnition faults, flame sensors, pressure switches and blocked flues. A furnace that lights and then drops out has a short list of causes, and we work through it rather than swapping parts.
- Heat pumpsExcellent here for most of the winter. The setup that matters is when the backup heat is allowed to come on, and how the defrost cycle behaves.
- Electric furnacesSimple and reliable, expensive to run hard. Worth comparing against a heat pump when replacement time comes.
- SafetyAnything involving a gas smell, soot or a cracked heat exchanger is a stop-and-check-today matter, not a scheduled visit.
Cool air lost before it arrives
In a Tri-Cities summer an attic can sit far above the outdoor temperature. Every leak and every unsealed joint up there is cooling you paid for, escaping into the hottest space in the building — and a leaking return pulls that same air straight into the system.
We test rather than assume, seal what is leaking, and re-check afterwards so you can see the difference rather than take it on trust.
When it is genuinely time
- A heat load, not a guessThe house decides the size. Oversizing is the most common mistake and it makes comfort worse, not better.
- Ducts checked firstNew equipment on leaking ducts wastes a good share of what you have just bought.
- Options side by sideUsually two or three, with what each actually changes for your house and your bills.
- The details of the installLine set, drain, electrical, pad and clearances. This is what decides how the system ages.
